License Renewal Changes

The Bureau of Professional Licensing (BPL) within LARA has transitioned to a new online renewal system. If using the system for the first time, you will need to register for an account at www.michigan.gov/miplus and then renew your license. For details on renewal requirements, please visit www.michigan.gov/bpl. If you do not renew your license by your license expiration date, a $20 late fee will be assessed. If you do not renew within the 60-day late period, your license will go into lapsed status. If you have questions about the new process, call BPL at (517) 241-0199 or email them at bplhelp@michigan.gov.

License Renewal Requirements

The State requires that you complete a total of 18 hours of continuing education by your renewal date or you will have to apply for re-licensure and we are unable to pay any referral fees to you if you don’t have an active license.  Also, remember that there is a requirement of 2 hours of legal content each year as part of the 6 hour continuing education requirements each year.

If you do not complete the Continuing Education hours and do not renew your license with the State by your renewal date, you will have to apply for re-licensure and will forfeit any money already paid.

The State will mail your renewal application to your last known address.  If you have moved, you must inform the State directly.  Informing Real Estate One Associate’s of the move does not inform the State.

The Real Estate One Academy will offer a variety of Continuing Education courses that are covered with your yearly fee. Please be careful not to repeat any classes you have previously attended because the State will not give you credit for the same class twice.

If you have any questions, please contact Deanna Shay, Licensing Coordinator at 248-208-4992 or dshay@realestateone.com.
